A CONVERSATION WITH
BRUCE ROBERTS

Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube

BRUCE ROBERTS | HIS TAKE ON LEADERSHIP, SACRIFICE, COMMUNITY, AND HIS DRIVE TO SERVE

A couple years ago I had a friend invite me to come train with him at Crossfit Hyperion.

I had no idea what to expect, and quickly fell in love with 2 things at that gym: A) The community, and B) The owners who created that community.

One of those owners was Bruce Roberts, and over the years I got to build a friendship with him and learn about the incredible life he’s lived.

Bruce served in the military for 27 years, having spent time in Korea, Cuba, and Afghanistan. His vast amount of unique experiences in the military taught him so much about discipline, growth, and leadership.

After his time in the army, he even started a nonprofit that has been able to help with refugees in both Afghanistan and Ukraine.

Bruce is such a massive force for good, and I wanted to share the 3 bigges leadership takeaways I had from our podcast together:

1) As a leader, you should never miss an opportunity to coach, mentor, or train. Sometimes leaders prioritize their own growth and success over helping their team grow and succeed. Your focus should be on the latter.

2) You have 2 jobs as a leader: 1) Training the next generation of leaders, and 2) Being self aware enough to make sure they become better leaders than you.

3) Leadership should be inspirational. If anyone leaves, it’s because of a bad leader—so do everything you can as a leader to inspire and uplift everyone you work with.

I’m extremely grateful to Bruce for her service to our country, as well as his service to everyday people like myself. The world is constantly in need of great leaders like Bruce, and I’m grateful to call him a friend.
