A CONVERSATION WITH DAVE HUNTER
DAVE HUNTER’S UNCONVENTIONAL SUCCESS THROUGHOUT A MULTIFACETED CAREER
Dave Hunter gave this profound advice on my podcast recently. He then continued:
“The reason you need to find your “Why” quickly is because if you can get your why, it will dictate and guide you throughout the rest of your life.”
A common denominator of the successful is instead of asking “What should I do to get this?” They ask, “Why should I get this?” If you have enough reasons why, you can accomplish any what.
Dave is an incredible example of this. He has an absolutely crazy life story, but he credits most of his success to being able to find his “why” quickly—so that he can spend the rest of his time going after his dreams, whether it was wealth in real estate, moviemaking, or even the Baja 1000.
“The most important thing you can do in life is to find your “WHY” as fast as you can!”
DAVE ON PARENTING:
Dave also has some fascinating thoughts on parenting:
First, in his words, he “Let’s his kids fail miserably.” He doesn’t shield his kids from failure, and let’s them explore and try new things in life. This allows them to get a strong backbone and learn to push through when the going gets tough.
Second, Dave always seeks to validate his kid’s dreams—even though they may not make the most sense financially. He challenges his kids to seek out their talents and explore them and learn about them, even if they may not provide a stable job in the future. Dave would rather have them live their dream than be rich.
And third, he teaches them the importance of getting out into the world and slaying dragons. In other words, it doesn’t matter what life throws at you—you can get through anything if you keep trying and don’t give up.
