JESSE ITZLER ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP, RISK-TAKING, AND LIVING FULLY

“The greatest gift anyone can give themselves is to get over the fear of being embarrassed.”

Jesse Itzler gave me this advice during our conversation at MW3.

I’ve been a lifelong fan of Jesse’s. From starting his career in the music industry to starting multiple businesses to landing a major client by purchasing every single muffin in a store, he is a prime example of this principle of not being afraid of embarrassment. He just does what needs to be done.

It’s got me thinking—it’s amazing how much potential success we hold ourselves back from by giving into fear of embarrassment. The thought of “What will others think?” has probably killed more dreams and innovation than anything else in the world.

How can you become the best version of yourself if you’re afraid of being embarrassed?

“The second you learn how to embrace embarrassment you allow yourself to learn and make mistakes. It’s truly liberating. I think the best way to get over embarrassment is to just let it happen. Go try things, fail, learn, and go try more things!”
